With iOS & iPadOS, a Bluetooth MIDI connection is set up in the settings of a music app.
To do this, open the MIDI settings of the app and select your piano from the list of devices displayed there—the connection will be established. For more information on opening the Bluetooth MIDI settings, please refer to your app’s instructions.
Alternatively, you can also establish the connection via our C. Bechstein app:
Once activated, C. Bechstein Connect or VARIO will be available to all MIDI applications on your iPhone or iPad.
A Bluetooth MIDI connection can be established on macOS using the Audio MIDI Setup app (part of the operating system) or via the C. Bechstein app.
This Apple support article describes the procedure step by step for macOS.
Alternatively, you can also establish a system-wide MIDI connection via our C. Bechstein app (available on Macs with Apple Chip):
Once activated, C. Bechstein Connect or VARIO will be available to all MIDI applications on your Mac.
With Android OS, a Bluetooth MIDI connection is set up in the settings of the music app you want to use.
Please note that Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and higher may have restrictions when multiple apps want to access a MIDI connection at the same time. This also depends on the specific customizations of the device manufacturer and the implementation of the apps.
To do this, open the MIDI settings of the app and select your piano from the list of devices displayed there—the connection will then be established. For more information on opening the Bluetooth MIDI settings, please refer to your app’s instructions.
With Windows OS, a Bluetooth MIDI connection is set up in the settings of the music app you want to use. Note that support for Bluetooth MIDI has been integrated since Windows 10, which makes setup easier.
For Windows operating systems, you must first change the Bluetooth device detection from “Standard” to “Advanced” under Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Devices. If you now click on Add devices, you will also see Bluetooth MIDI devices such as your C. Bechstein piano will also be displayed. Select your instrument from the list of visible Bluetooth devices to establish a connection.
Then open the MIDI settings of the Music app and select your piano from the list of devices displayed there – the connection will then be established. Under Windows, it is usually possible to use several MIDI applications at the same time. If this does not work without problems, special MIDI routing software such as loopMIDI or the classic MIDI-OX can help.
Further information on opening the Bluetooth MIDI settings can be found in the instructions for your app.
